Please read below to find out about our next support group meeting and upcoming Parent-to-Parent educational programs!

Valley of the Sun Parents' Support Group in Memory of Dr. Clare Jones meets monthly.  There is no charge for this group and it is open to the public.

Parent-to-Parent programs are 7 weeks long and are run every 2 months or as they fill up.

Please join us Thursday, June 18th from 6-8 p.m.for our monthly support group meeting.  Alva Johnson, a school administrator, will be our guest speaker for the evening.  She will be addressing such issues as determining the best educational environment for your child, how to help your child find school success, as well as answering questions you may have.  Don't miss it!

Our Support Group meetings are held at the Desert Camp Community Center at DC Ranch.  Our meetings are on the third Thursday of the month from 6-8 pm.

Upcoming meeting dates:  Thursday, February 19th, Thursday, March 19th, Thursday, April 16th, Thursday, May 21st, Thursday, June 18th

Here are just a few of the topics to be explored at upcoming Support Group meetings:

School issues
What to look for in an evaluation
Parenting issues
Socialization for kids with AD/HD

At the support group, you will be able to find support, information, advice, a shoulder to cry on...all from parents who have been where you are.  Come see what we all can learn from each other!

Parent-to-Parent educational programs are seven weeks long and provide an overview of the very complicated and oftentimes confusing world of AD/HD.  The participant will leave the course with a large binder of wonderful resource material including the most up-to-date and valid information that CHADD has to offer.  Participants meet one night a week for seven weeks.  The course costs $145 for non-CHADD members; if you are already a member of CHADD, the fee is $100.  Contact Erica at chaddvos@schwartzplace.com for more information.

**If you are not a CHADD member, or are new to CHADD,
please register your contact information with CHADD so that we can contact you about local activities.  Your privacy is protected and will not be used for any other purpose except to contact you about CHADD programs and activities.

Do you need immediate assistance?

As a volunteer, I may not be able to get back to you if you need immediate assistance.

If you are seeking information for something that is time-sensitive (such as an IEP/Section 504 meeting at your child’s school), or are looking for a local  professional with AD/HD expertise, please contact CHADD’s National Resource Center on AD/HD (NRC), online at www.help4adhd.org or by phone toll-free at 800-233-4050 (press option 2, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm Eastern time).

The NRC is staffed by trained health information professionals who can answer many of your questions about AD/HD and provide other helpful information and resources. (NOTE: the NRC does not provide legal or medical advice, but can offer ideas and suggestions to help you find what you are looking for).

CHADD does not endorse or represent products, services, publications, medications or treatments. Meetings are free and open to the public, although membership with CHADD is strongly encouraged, since our local group receives a portion of your dues to continue supporting our community.
