THIS MONTH'S MEETINGS TOPICS: Note: All meetings take place at the West Acres Community Meeting Room in the JC Penny Wing Basement Due to insurance restrictions Childcare is NOT available at our meetings at this time. Monday, Feb 6th - Parent/Family Support Group: MEDICATION & MEDICATION TREATMENTS FOR ADHD. Properly treating children, teens and adults with ADHD includes medical, educational and behavioral approaches. For many affected individuals, the medication prescribed by a doctor is an important part of ADHD management. Dr. Jeanine Roembach, Psychiatrist will present updated and factual information about ADHD medications, their effects, side effects and answer your questions about the use of medication for treatment of ADHD. Monday, Feb. 20th - Adult Support Group: EMOTIONS AND ADULT ADHD Many adults living with ADHD have intense emotional and sensory reactions. We’ll discuss ADHD and emotions with a focus on education and coaching skills to regulate (and celebrate) emotional expression. We’ll also discuss how emotional intensity can impact your overall mood and well-being. Presenter: Professional Licensed Clinical Counselor, Kama Jensen, will present strategies and ADHD coaching tools to assist with emotional regulation. All meetings take place from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the West Acres Community Center *************************************************************************** NEW! Parent training: CHADD's Parent to Parent training on AD/HD. This is a seven week, multi-session, interactive and educational progam for parents of children and adolescents with AD/HD. Classes are taught by certified Parent to Parent Instructors. Classes meet for 2 hours every week for 7 weeks or can be arranged in a 2 day seminar format over a weekend. Participants receive extensive materials to support them, including articles, reference materials, handouts, and a workbook. There is a fee for the class and it is only available to CHADD members. You can join CHADD when you register for the class or you can join CHADD online or by calling 800-233-4050 800-233-4050. Gain valuable information, tools and strategies for behavioral management, effective treatment, partnering with schools and other challenges associated with raising a child with AD/HD. Classes are taught by certified P2P teachers. Registrations are taken on a first come/first serve basis until the class is full. There is a waiting list available.
