Welcome!

membershipWELCOME TO OUR VOLUNTEER SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY INFORMATION PAGE FOR THOSE DEALING WITH ATTENTION DEFICIT/HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER -- AD/HD

The Greater Orange County CHADD Chapter hosts FREE monthly meetings regarding AD/HD.

General speaker meetings are held on the LAST TUESDAY of the month in the city of Orange (except August & December) and the ADULT FOCUS meetings are held on the THIRD MONDAY of each month.  UCI also holds CHADD satellite meetings on AD/HD the SECOND WEDNESDAY of each month.  See information below on each of these meetings.

WE HAVE A NEW MEETING PLACE FOR OUR ADULT AD/HD meetings!  They are starting up again November 21, 2011 and we WILL NOT have an ADULT AD/HD meeting on January 16th.  We are experiencing trouble with our email ListServ ... the good news is that our ListServ is huge.  Please bear with us as we research new software to better serve the community!

We also hold various other meetings and workshops ... see Meetings & Events in the menu bar above for more information.

You can also click on Links in the menu bar for references to other sites regarding AD/HD.

Our CHADD Chapter maintains a ListServ email distribution list that will notify you about conferences, workshops, resources, etc., in the Orange County area relevant to AD/HD.   Please send your email address to ADHDmeeting@pacbell.net to be added to our ListServ.

See Menu Bar above for more links:  Meeting & Events, Contact Us, Links, More, Upload Files.

Our Chapter is a volunteer organization that works to maintain a support network and forum for continuing education for parents, adults, adolescents, couples, professionals, and teachers regarding AD/HD by being a community resource for information.  Our Chapter presents a wide-range of information and education on AD/HD and AD/HD PLUS while working to follow the science-based, multimodal approach to treatment for AD/HD which is recommended by the National Institutes of Mental Health and the Office of the U.S. Surgeon Generals.  A multimodal treatment plan can be done with or without medication and includes any or all of the following (but is not all-inclusive): behavioral and cognitive therapies, individual-couples-and-family counseling, school consultations, nutritional & exercise-based treatments, collaborative problem solving, skills building, accomodations, modifications, and pull-outt services as necessary (see disclaimer below for more information)

Do you need immediate assistance?

As a volunteer, I may not be able to get back to you if you need immediate assistance.

If you are seeking information for something that is time-sensitive (such as an IEP/Section 504 meeting at your child’s school), or are looking for a local  professional with AD/HD expertise, please contact CHADD’s National Resource Center on AD/HD (NRC), online at www.help4adhd.org or by phone toll-free at 800-233-4050 (press option 2, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm Eastern time).

The NRC is staffed by trained health information professionals who can answer many of your questions about AD/HD and provide other helpful information and resources. (NOTE: the NRC does not provide legal or medical advice, but can offer ideas and suggestions to help you find what you are looking for).

Volunteer Opportunities:

We are always in need of volunteers to effectively run this FREE Support Group.  If you would like to volunteer your talents to our group, please send an e-mail to ADHDmeeting@pacbell.net
