MEETINGS AND EVENTS FOR NORTH TEXAS CHADD
Parent-To-Parent: Family Training on AD/HD
A Multi-Session Interactive and Educational Program for Adults and Parents of Children and Adolescents with AD/HD. The entire course includes 14 hours of class time offered as a seven-week class, meeting for two hours, once a week. Participants will receive extensive resource materials to use during class and to keep for future reference. Limited enrollment to 10 couples or 20 people. Cost is $145, which includes a membership to CHADD. Cost for current CHADD members is $100.
The curriculum in this unique “State of the Art” program includes research-based information on: · Overview of AD/HD · Assessment to Multi-Modal Treatment · Developing Parenting Strategies & Positive Behavior Interventions- Behavior Management, Part-1 · Strengthening Family Relationships, Behavior Management, Part-2 · Educational Rights for Your Children with AD/HD: Understanding Federal Laws (504 & IDEA) · Building an Education Team: Bridging the Gap Between Home and School for Future Success · AD/HD Across the Life Span and Adults with AD/HD
Classes begin Wednesday, January 27, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and continue each Wednesday, February 3, 10, 17, 24, March 6, ending March 10, at Brookhaven College: Building S, Rm. S-003. Farmers Branch, TX, 75244 Led by Jan Seltzer,M.S., LPC-Intern, Mike Garza, Ed.D., LPC, LMFT, and other Board Members at no charge for parents and adults. Our goal is to educate and empower others with information by sharing common experiences. We explore helpful ideas and knowledge from others about living with AD/HD and children, relationship issues, work issues, self, latest research, treatment options, and other resources. Driving Directions: LBJ West, go North on Marsh Lane. Turn right (east) at the third traffic light, Valley View Lane. About 100 yards on the left is the entrance to Brookhaven College. Park in front of the center building (S) Student Services Building with the flags. Walk straight through this building and the first building behind the Student Services Building is the Administration Building (Building A) You can then see the room from outside of the building. It will be A-201.
