Board of DirectorsDulce Torres, LPC Coordinator Dulce M. Torres, began her more than 20-year career in the mental health arena with a B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico and an M.A. from Amberton University. She worked with Dallas MHMR for 13 years prior to becoming a manager of the Kiosco Youth & Family School Based Health Center with Dallas ISD. A frequent speaker at national conferences, she began a second career as an advice columnist for both El Sol de Texas and La Estrella, where she contributed a bi-weekly feature called “La Familia del Nuevo Milenio.”. Presently she writes for the newspaper Panorama. She is a Certified Parent-to-Parent Teacher.
Natalie Davenport, Ph.D. Co-coordinator
Natalie Davenport, Ph.D., is a School Psychologist and the President of DAS, Inc. She is a dedicated professional working with children, adolescents and adults with disabilities. Prior to coming to Dallas, she was an assistant professor at Texas A&M, Commerce, from 1991 to 1998 teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in psychology and special education. Dr. Davenport holds an appointed executive board position with the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center and is a member of several professional organizations. In 1991 she founded the Diagnostic Assessment Services.
Michael K Garza, Ed.D. Treasurer Michael K. Garza, Ed.D., received his Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M, Commerce, in 1976. He is a licensed counselor and marriage and family therapist. He has taught in the Dallas County Community College District for more than 30 years after teaching at Texas A&M, Commerce, for two years and prior, counseling at the University of Florida in their College Counseling Center for one year. He was in private practice, part-time, for 25 years until 1992. He has dealt with his own learning disabilities all of his life and started the North Texas Chapter of CHADD in 2003. He is a Certified Parent-to-Parent Teacher.
Kerry Davis M.S., LPC-Intern Secretary
Kerry Davis received her Master's degree in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University and her undergraduate degree in marketing from Hampton University in Hampton, Va. She presently works as a school counselor for at-risk adolescents in the charter school system. In addition to her experience in counseling, Kerry has worked as a human resources executive in the corporate sector. Her human resources experience includes recruiting, training, employee relations and diversity management.
Jan Seltzer-Garza, MS, NCC, LPC-Intern received her Master's degree in Counseling & Development from Texas Woman's University and her BA in Psychology from TWU, as well. She has been counseling male and female inmates at the Denton County Jail for three years, facilitaing groups and individual counseling on Anger Management, Relapse Prevention, Life Skills, Parenting skills, AD/HD, and others. Jan has worked with North Texas CHADD, alongside her husband, for about six years, has presented on AD/HD & Communication in college classrooms, and faciltates the Support Groups with the other board members. She is a Certified Parent-to-Parent Teacher. | |
