Welcome!
WELCOME TO OUR SUPPORT GROUP INFORMATION PAGE!
Please read below to find out more about our meetings and programs!
Our next meeting will be March 8, 2010
We meet as a support group helping to build each family & individual up and share ideas.
If you want to find out more about AD/HD or ADD you have come to the right place.
When: We meet the 2nd Monday of the month September thru May at 7PM. (Not December)
Where: 1279 Medical Building. This is just west of the Fayette Community Hospital located on Highway 54 between Fayetteville and Peachtree City, GA. The meeting will be in a conference room on the 3rd Floor.
WHO SHOULD COME?
A. Anyone who has been diagnosed with AD/HD or ADD
B. Anyone who has a child that seems to be having behavior problems and you can't really figure it out.
C. Perhaps your child is performing under their capabilities at school-they just can't seem to concentrate, they forget homework etc., and you don't understand why.
D. An adult with similar problems at work or at home.
Our meetings will last for about 1 1/2 hours and sometimes less. Normally people have many questions and this is a great opportunity to get advice and support from those in attendance.
Some meetings have a guest speaker/s who have knowledge and experience working with children, adolescents, or adults with AD/HD or ADD.
You can find out who the closest doctors or psychologists are and the areas that they specialize in ie. children or adults or both.
You can also get a perception of how others who have used the services of these professionals view them. For example, many parents get their children's diagnosis from a pediatrician, who may or may not be your best source of help. You may believe that you should contact someone who specializes in these disorders, to get the best advice and the most current and detailed information with regard to medications.
If you would like to get involved or need additional information please contact fayette-county@chadd.net or Karen Semon (770)631-7028 after 6PM.
Do you need immediate assistance?
As a volunteer, I may not be able to get back to you if you need immediate assistance. If you are seeking information for something that is time-sensitive (such as an IEP/Section 504 meeting at your child’s school), or are looking for a local professional with AD/HD expertise, please contact CHADD’s National Resource Center on AD/HD (NRC), online at www.help4adhd.org or by phone toll-free at 800-233-4050 (press option 2, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm Eastern time).
The NRC is staffed by trained health information professionals who can answer many of your questions about AD/HD and provide other helpful information and resources. (NOTE: the NRC does not provide legal or medical advice, but can offer ideas and suggestions to help you find what you are looking for).
Refreshments are served at each meeting, please come out and support your local CHADD by becoming a member and attending the meetings. Be sure to let membership know that you would like to be affiliated with the Fayette County group. You do not have to be a member to attend meetings.
