Raising Your Child's Social IQ: What is it and Why Does It Matters
By Joseph Volpe, Ph.D. -- East end Psychological Services, P.C.
www.eastendpsychologicalservices.com
The ability to develop meaningful relationships with peers is one of the most important skills that a child can possess. Empathy and social skills are the two main ingredients of what has been referred to as social intelligence. With these skills, children are in a great position to properly read social situations and make appropriate responses at the right time.  Consequently, they can make friends and enjoy friendships.
Without these skills, children risk rejection and alienation by their peers. The concepts of emotional intelligence, Social skills and empathy will be explored in this lecture as well as strategies that parents and educators can use to nurture social IQ in children

Volunteer Opportunities:

My Story:
18 years ago my family was under tremendous stress and turmoil. I thought because I was a nurse I could handle raising my children with ease. I was so wrong. My husband and I were at odds with each other on how to raise our son with AD/HD and how best to help him. We needed help! We by accident found CHADD. CHADD litteraly saved our family from destruction. I became educated and empowered to manage my son's issues and help the family lessen the stress. We all started working together, thanks to CHADD!.
I immediatly became a volunteer. The best way to learn is to become invlolved.
Your chapter needs you. In order to continue to provide the servies we have provided for Suffolk County for the past 18 years>>> we need your help!
Call or write today to see how you can help!

If you would like to volunteer your talents to this group, please send us an e-mail at
